Residential care worker

Work directly with children day-to-day: supporting routines, sharing meals, organising activities, guiding emotional regulation, helping with education, and building meaningful relationships.

Residential social care worker

Lead shifts, model best practice, support colleagues, and ensure the home runs smoothly.

Assistant care manager and registered managers

Support or lead the operational and strategic oversight of the home, ensuring high-quality care, compliance, and a positive culture.

Night care worker

Maintain safety and reassurance overnight, helping children feel secure around the clock.

Relief staff

Flexible roles for those who want to support our homes around other commitments.

Do I need experience?

Many residential childcare roles ask for around six months’ experience supporting children, young people, or even adults in a care or support setting. This can come from a wide range of backgrounds, both formal and informal, such as:

  • volunteering with children or young people
  • supporting youth or community groups
  • teaching assistant or classroom roles
  • nursing and healthcare
  • SEND support work
  • personal caregiving responsibilities, such as supporting siblings or family members

These experiences need patience, empathy, resilience, creativity, and the ability to build trusting relationships. They also help you develop practical skills like emotional support, behaviour guidance, and creating a safe, structured environment.

When applying, focus on the values that drive you and the strengths you’ve gained from your journey so far. Show how you connect with children, how you stay resilient, how you listen, and how you help young people feel seen and supported.
