St Nicholas at Sherwood Forest
St Nicholas is the origin of our jolly red Santa Claus. St Nicholas was a Bishop in Myra (now Turkey) and he was known for secret gift giving, slipping into the homes of poor people to leave coins in their shoes or stockings. December 6 is his traditional feasting day and St Nicholas will be visiting Sherwood this weekend to meet children and check if they have been naughty or nice. Decorate a Christmas coin to take home in your shoe and meet the man himself! Sunday 8 December will also be the second Advent Sunday celebration, so join us and Robin Hood at 12pm to light the second candle and sing carols around the Major Oak. Please note that standard car parking charges apply to all non-members.
