Summer Singing Workshop Day
English Romantics! Come and celebrate the sounds and sights of the English summer, from birds and bees to sudden storms of derring-do. A one-day choral workshop exploring the delights of partsongs by major English Romantic composers.
A rare opportunity to spend a day exploring the intimate choral delights of the English Partson, come and sing exquisite choral gems, including Pearsall’s poignant Lay a Garland and heroic Sir Patrick Spens, Elgar’s vivid As Torrents in Summer and Sterndale Bennett’s inviting Come live with me alongisde settings of Shakespeare texts by George MacFarren and Charles Wood.
The workshop will consider the style of singing required by these pieces and techniques for conveying their stories. And to celebrate Summer, a bowl of strawberries served during the afternoon – all part of the workshop experience! Music is available to borrow on the day.
