Medieval Coverlet Sewing Sessions

Thursday 27 June 2019 12.30pm to 2.30pm Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre Free

Join our resident Historical Costumier Hannah in making a Medieval Coverlet telling the story of Sherwood Forest. We want your help in making an authentic Medieval Coverlet to use as a fine tablecloth for the annual Robin Hood Festival!

Come along to Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre on the first & last Thursday of every month to take part in our free sewing sessions, where you’ll learn about this traditional 14th century sewing technique. Our Historical Costumier Hannah (star of BBC Four’s ‘A Stitch in Time’) will guide you through medieval sewing techniques using traditional materials, fabrics and threads.

Each session and participant will contribute to the whole Coverlet, and will tell the stories of Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood. All of the sessions we’re running are free, although any donations to help us cover costs of materials are welcome!

You don’t need any equipment or materials, all you need to bring along is enthusiasm & willingness to learn. You are free to drop into a session at any time in the two-hour window, however spaces are limited, so you can book for free via EventBrite.

Please note: these sessions are not suitable for children under 12.
