Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre

Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre

Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre is an educational facility set in the history-laden north Nottinghamshire countryside.

We work closely with schools and groups from Nottinghamshire and further a field to provide individually tailored days for young people and adults to experience quality outdoor learning experiences. Programmes aim to enrich the curriculum and help learners reach their potential through positive engagement with the education process, increasing confidence, group awareness, healthy activity and fun. The centre is also available for self led groups throughout the year.

Perlethorpe is a child friendly, inspirational environment that provides memorable and lifelong learning experiences beyond the reach of the school grounds for 6000 - 7000 young people each year.

What an amazing, enriched experience for the children. The whole day was so well organised and the tutor was brilliant. Thank you we'll be back. - Muskham Primary

About Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre

Perlethorpe is a wonderful place for learning outdoors. Pupils of all ages and abilities from 3 -19 will enjoy the broad range of cross-curricular themes and activities available at the Centre. Traditional Tales for KS1 to studying AS Level ecology, experiencing Victorian life, becoming an evacuee or meeting a personal challenge at orienteering, pupils will have the chance to learn about the environment and themselves in real and exciting ways.

The centre is housed in the former village school set in the beautiful countryside surroundings of the Thoresby Estate in the historic 'Dukeries' of North Nottinghamshire. Visiting schools have access to a wide range of habitats; lake, river, farmland, woods, village and parkland. Visits to the church can also be arranged.

The centre is staffed by experienced teachers who are available to plan and work with visiting schools across a very wide range of programmes and activities, linked directly with the National Curriculum and post 16 examination boards. Visiting teachers should contact the centre as early as possible before the visit to discuss the programme details. Teaching support by Centres' staff must be booked in advance. At least half a day of direct teaching time can be allocated to each class group.

Prices vary depending on if you are booking from a Nottinghamshire school, a non-Nottinghamshire school, or for a different type of group or organisation.
