About Camp Redwood
Our camps take place in a private area of Thoresby Estate which is dominated by large Redwood Trees which are over 150 years old. These trees create a unique environment for the camps and a lot of our activities will allow the pupils to learn about the ecology of the area they are in.
Thoresby Estate was first acquired by Robert Pierrepont, 1st Earl of Kingston upon Hull in 1633. The first Grand house to be built on the land was burnt down and the second demolished. The Grand Thoresby Hall you see today is the 3rd to be built on the land and was build in 1870. The Pierrepont family still own the estate although they no longer live in the main hall.
