Early Years Sufficiency and Place Planning Events

About this course

The Early Childhood Services team at Nottinghamshire County Council would like to invite all providers to attend an event in their local district, to look at the sufficiency of early years places. These events provide opportunities for different types of providers to build on existing local relationships and establish new partnerships. By engaging with other providers, sharing information and accessing support, settings can work together to meet the needs of parents and children in their area.

The events are open to all providers, including nurseries, preschools, childminders and schools who offer funded early years places. The events will be led by the early years project officers who will provide a range of resources, including local maps, headcount and take-up data, which will assist all providers to understand the supply of and demand for places locally.

Information gathered from participants at the events will be used to develop the childcare sufficiency assessment for 2019 and identify where there are gaps in provision or where take up rates are low. We will look at provision for 2, 3 and 4-year olds and at take up rates for 30 hours, Early Years Pupil Premium, Disability Action Fund and the deprivation supplement.

It is important that you attend the event in the district in which you operate, as the maps and other data will be specific to that district.  For providers with more than one setting, you are welcome to attend, or send a representative to each district in which you operate.

We want as many childminders as possible to attend these events and will also be attending two evening and one Saturday morning childminder events in to carry out sufficiency planning. These dates will follow shortly.

There will be many members of the Early Childhood Services present at the events to facilitate, including teachers and advisors from the quality and attainment team and officers from the data team.  Refreshments will be provided.

Places can be booked via TADO.  We expect the events to be well attended, as they have been when we held similar events for 30 hours and 2-year-old places etc.
