CGL Children Affected by Substance Misuse

All practitioners working in early years settings and childminders.

About this course

This course will be in two parts:

  •  A short-pre-recorded session which delegates must complete before attending the second “live” part of the briefing. This will include:
    • Introduction to Change Grow Live, including an explanation of the support provided to parents/carers using and children affected by parents/carers using
    • Myth Buster quiz
    • Key statistics about substance misuse
  • The second “Live” briefing session to include the following:
    • Myth Buster quiz discussion
    • Signs of substance misuse in the parent/carer
    • Signs a child is being impacted by parent/carer substance misuse
    • How to talk to a parent/carer about your concerns
    • Consideration of safeguarding responsibilities
    • How to refer a child and/or parent/carer

  • To provide delegates with a good understanding of the support CGL provides.
  • To improve awareness of how substance misuse presents in adults.
  • To support delegates to feel more confident they can notice signs the child may be impacted by parent/carer substance misuse.
  • To help delegates feel better equipped to have discussions with parent/carers about suspected substance misuse.
  • To clarify safeguarding responsibilities is parent/carer substance misuse is identified.

To provide clarity about the referral process in for both adults and children.

You must use the Eventbrite link to book a course. You cannot contact the course admin to book.

Make sure you have your manager's approval before booking on a course.

If you have booked a place but find you cannot make it, remember to cancel your place so others can attend.

Please remember to bring your Eventbrite ticket on the day.

If you fail to attend a course you have booked on without cancelling your place via your Eventbrite account no refund will be given.

To view or change your booking in any way (such as cancelling your place) you must setup an Eventbrite account.

Make sure your email address is correct or you will not receive any of the course information or notifications.
