Madeline Leather and Sarah Jayne Dunn

Madeleine aged 14, from Southwell wowed the judges with her fantastic performance of ‘Show Me’ written to the tune of well known festive song Frosty the Snowman. The song’s lyrics follow the themes of delaying sex until you are sure you are ready and finding other ways to show you care without having sex.

It was a difficult decision for the panel of expert judges, made up of Sue Jablonskas of Nottinghamshire County Teenage Pregnancy Partnership who organised the competition; Reg Clegg from Bandwagon Studios and Andy Dawson from County Youth Arts.

The Paradox and The Stinging Nettles were also applauded for their fantastic performances of ‘Think First’ and ‘You’d Better Watch Out’ and were made runners-up.

Sue Jablonskas, Nottinghamshire County Teenage Pregnancy Coordinator said: “All three finalists gave very impressive performances and were a delight to watch.

“Choosing a winner was incredibly difficult as all three finalists came up with such great entries which showed off their musical talents, as well as promoting some very important issues which effect young people, such as making informed choices relating to their sexual health, in a fun and creative way.

Sarah Jayne Dunn

“I would like to congratulate Madeleine on winning Xmas Factor 2006 and also the members of The Paradox and Stinging Nettles for their fantastic performances.”

Madeleine and the two runners-up were each presented with a certificate and music vouchers by Hollyoaks Star, Sarah Jayne Dunn who played Mandy Hutchinson in the popular soap opera.
