A group of young people were asked to appear on Central Extra, a half hour TV show, to talk about some work they had been doing around teenage pregnancy within their school. Two of the young people gave interviews and were filmed for three hours, showing and explaining some of the positive work that was being done around teenage pregnancies across the County. The end result of the programme was very negative and the young people involved were only show for about 10 seconds. They felt ignored and this made them feel really angry as they felt that all of the positive things that were said and being done were completely dismissed by the programme.
In response to this disappointment the group of young people from Arnold Hill 6th Form got together and applied for funding to make their own short film regarding teenage pregnancy and sexual health. The group wrote the script, operated all the cameras, sound equipment and everything to do with the production of the film.
The people involved were Emiley Windley, Kerry Mckie, Stephan Fox, Emma Garnham, Helen Tomlinson, Joe foster, Andy Haywood, Cara Nurse, Dan Hallam and Eve Taylor.
The short film they produced was turned into a DVD which is an excellent resource and the young people wanted to ensure that their peers go the chance to see it. In consultation with the young people it was decided that the DVD would be sent to schools and youth clubs with a package of materials to support its use.
