 | The government have recently announced new arrangements for the Youth Opportunities (YOF) and Youth Capital Funds (YCF) for the next three years. The initial pot of funding for 2006 – 2008 has now finished, and we have received new Government guidance about the next funding period of 2008-2011. Nottinghamshire has been allocated £457,300 Youth Opportunity Fund and £359,600 Youth Capital Fund monies for each year from 2008 to 2011.

We are currently taking into consideration the new guidance and complying with the requirement that young people are central to the decision making processes regarding the funds by drawing up a a new set of delivery plans with consultation from young people
The County Council’s new Young People’s Board, a group entirely made up of young people, are being supported to consider the further appliance of the YOF and YCF, and to identify the priority areas for the funds over the next three years.
This means that the Board’s new delivery plans and priorities may lead to new criteria being established for applications to the funds through Youth Initiative Grants (YIGs), and may lead to a revision of the decision making processes.
We are intending to utilise the new funding as an opportunity to strengthen the involvement of young people in decision making processes across the County.
YIG applications which have been submitted for consideration through the 2008/09 funding will be subject to some delay whilst the Board’s decision making arrangements are finalised.
We acknowledge that due to the revision of the funding processes this may lead to time scales of bids expiring, and we are asking applicants whose bids may be affected by this to contact us to discuss your application.
If you have recently submitted an application please be assured that it will be fully considered once the new arrangements are in place. You should receive a response by the end of July.
In the meantime, you should be aware that no new applications will be accepted from 31st May, until the new priorities and criteria for the 2008-2011 funding for Nottinghamshire have been published.
Please keep looking on the youthzone website www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/youthzone (Youth Initiative Grants) for regular updates of the new arrangements.
Thank you for your continued support with this scheme.
