Southwell Library Poetry Festival

The Southwell Library Poetry Festival is a regular event in the library calendar to celebrate poetry in all its forms. It took place on 3 to 5 July 2015. 

Highlights included:

  • an eclectic evening of captivating verse with John Hegley
  • fascinating workshops on subjects as diverse as Nottinghamshire Poetry, The Poetry of Independence, Twentieth Century Poets, Village Verse  and more! 
  • Seuss on the Loose children’s activity 
  • festival Poet in Residence, Bert Flitcroft 
  • a screening of Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing 
  • live music from poetry band LiTTLe MACHiNe
  • Dessert Island Poems with Sheelagh Gallagher
  • performance of TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.
