Community transport good practice

We have developed a range of good practice documents to support voluntary transport schemes in Nottinghamshire as part of the Mobility Strategy.

We are developing a 'Quality Standard for Community Transport Providers' and have developed a Statement of Shared Values [PDF]. This includes standards in key areas such as health and safety, equal opportunities, volunteer management and legal compliance.

Draft Quality Standard

This includes standards in key areas such as health and safety, equal opportunities, volunteer management and legal compliance.

The Council is encouraging schemes to consider the CTA Quality Mark.

A number of supporting documents are available to support the Quality Standard. These documents will be reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis:

Minibus schemes

The following Minibus documents are available on request from the County Council:

  • Minibus Safety Policy and Guidance
  • Education Minibus Guide.

Email: passengertransport@nottscc.gov.uk to request these documents.

Voluntary car schemes

This good practice handbook template may be of use to schemes:

In partnership with Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN), we provide volunteer driver security badges, including lanyards and windscreen displays. If you would like to order supplies of any of these items please contact RCAN tel: 01623 727600.

Section 19 and Section 22 Permits

There are two types of permit under which Community Transport minibuses can operate: Section 19 Small Bus Permit, and Section 22 Community Minibus Permit. They each offer transport solutions to meet a range of community needs.
