What is Lorry Watch?
Lorry Watch is a scheme operated using local people to identify the misuse of weight restricted routes by heavy goods vehicles in Nottinghamshire.
Heavy vehicles are not allowed to travel along certain routes which are considered to be unsuitable. Large vehicles using these routes can create serious safety hazards for other road users and pedestrians, in particular children.
How does the scheme work?
Reporting online (all of Nottinghamshire)
Members of the public can complete an online form to report vehicles that may be misusing a route in Nottinghamshire.
Observers
- We have teams of observers in Langar cum Barnstone, Cropwell Bishop, Ravenshead, Nuthall, Greasley, Papplewick, Linby and Coddington, who note the details of vehicles that may be misusing a route
- Details are then either handed to the parish clerk to co-ordinate the reports or sent direct to us.
What we will do
Following either of the above ways of reporting:
- We will obtain plate details from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to check if the vehicle identified is over the weight restriction mentioned
- We will then make a decision as to what action is necessary.
Environmental Weight Limits
These limits prevent large vehicles from using inappropriate roads, routes and areas. Read more information about Environmental Weight Limits [PDF 72KB]
