Publicly maintained roads search

Search online

You can search online to find out whether a road or part of a road is publicly maintained (sometimes referred to as an 'adopted road').

Please note that this database does not include any roads that are not publicly maintained (including those covered by a Section 38 agreement), those within Nottingham City boundaries and footpaths/other rights of way.

If your search returns an error message this could be for one of the following reasons:

  • Incorrect spelling of the road name. Please check the spelling you have used e.g. Elm Tree Road or Elmtree Road

  • The road you are searching for is within Nottingham City boundaries. Please contact Nottingham City Council for information: www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk

  • The road you are searching for is within the boundaries of another county. Please check the address and contact the relevant authority

  • The road you are searching for is not publicly maintained.

If the result states that the road in question has 'partial length publicly maintained' and you would like further details, please write (including a plan) to:

Disclaimer

The list has been prepared using the best information available from records at the time of publication. It does not, however, constitute a definitive statement as to the status of any particular highway and only refers to the length publicly maintained and not lateral extents such as whether or not a grass verge is included.
