Saturday 29 September and Sunday 30 September
See twelve different periods bought to life with a timeline trail plotting the history of Sherwood Forest from the Romans through to modern times. Camp fires, pyrotechnics and muskets will bring drama and excitement to the woods as part of an annual celebration of its history. There will be re-enactments, displays and have-a-go sessions including:
- Romans mingling with ancient Britons
- Saxons fighting Norman knights
- Civil War Parliamentarians demonstrating their musket skills
- Twentieth century soldiers on manoeuvres.
You'll be able to visit camps from each period, try out archery and buy goods produced by craftsmen working in traditional ways. There will also be information on the work of the current day rangers who maintain Sherwood Forest as a National Nature Reserve.
The event is free with just a small car parking charge.
