Radcliffe Skate Park in Wharf Lane will host a Party at the Park on June 28 to coincide with the Olympic Torch Relay going through the village.

The party from 1pm to 10pm will feature free entertainment for the whole family with zorb racing, a climbing wall and break dancing among the attractions.

The park, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, will feature a number of Nottinghamshire bands as well as a local DJ.

Award winning BMX riders

And at the centre of the day’s fun activities will be award winning BMX riders putting on a dazzling display of bike skills.

Among the riders taking part are semi professional BMXers Scott Buchanan from Sneinton and Joe Symonds from Bottesford.

A variety of hot and cold food and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

At 1.30pm on the day Nottinghamshire County Council Leader Coun Kay Cutts will open the biggest ramp at the park – a replacement funded through the county council’s Local Improvement Scheme.

'Lots of fun for the whole family'

Coun Cutts said: “The roads around Radcliffe on Trent will be thronged with people cheering the Olympic Torch Relay and the party atmosphere will continue at the skate park with lots of fun for the whole family.”

There will be no parking on site at the skate park but a free pocket park and ride scheme will help local communities in the Cotgrave and Stragglethorpe area get to Radcliffe-on-Trent to view the Olympic Torch and attend the Party at the Park.

There will be a number of vehicles operating from Cotgrave Park and Ride site, calling at the Shepherds Park and Ride, and then on to Radcliffe on Trent, stopping at Cropwell Road.
