The Government's budget, announced on Wednesday 21 March 2012, confirmed when work is likely to start on dualling the A453.
Preparatory work is expected to begin this summer with construction beginning towards the end of next winter.
The County Council’s leader, Councillor Kay Cutts, said: “We are of course delighted that work is expected to start soon on this vital piece of infrastructure which will bring huge benefits to the Nottinghamshire economy.”
“While we have been working closely with the Highways Agency over precise timings for the dualling, it’s good to see the Government’s commitment for a start date reiterated in today’s Budget papers.”
Timetable
Subject to a favourable decision from the Secretary of State on the public enquiry, which was held in November 2009, the current timeline for work is as follows:
- advanced site clearance and accommodation works to start summer 2012
- main civil engineering works set to begin during winter 2012/13
- completion in late 2014/early 2015.
