On every page of our website (using 'faces'
like the ones on the right), and periodically as a pop-up survey, we offer ways
for you to rate our pages and service. It's an effective way to find out what
works and what doesn't, and what needs to be improved. We look at every comment we receive and try
to act on them as soon as we can.
Visitors rate hundreds of our pages each
month - we receive on average about 430 comments
a month in this way. Additionally, around 350 people per month complete our website survey. Sometimes we can make simple changes straight away, but other
times your comments require us to do quite a bit of work before we can put
things right.
What you've helped us to change so far
Listening to your views and understanding
the way you need to use the site, much of the website has been re-written and
re-organised over the last 18 months which has resulted in a dramatic increase
in its usage.
This work has included:
-
grouping services together in better ways, making it easier for people to find the information they're commonly looking for
-
addressing specific frustrations such as how you can object to
planning applications, fixed problems you’ve been having with renewing library
books and improving the County Council’s job application process
-
improving information you want such as our
office opening hours and information about winter gritting.
Some of the changes we've made more recently as a direct result of your feedback include:
-
creating a new 'Plan your visit' page for each of the country parks to pull together information such as directions, car parking, park accessibility, opening times. You can find these pages under each individual country park's information.
-
improving the school term dates page using a calendar feature
What we're working on
Some improvements take time and these are
some areas we’re currently working on:
-
pothole reporting
-
waste and recycling
permit applications
