Site Monitoring and enforcement is carried out by the County Council in accordance with the Local Enforcement Plan (previously known as the Monitoring and Enforcement Policy and Protocol).
The Local Enforcement Plan has recently been updated to reflect changes to legislation and national policy. It was adopted as Council policy in May 2015. A copy of the Plan may be viewed and downloaded below.

The Plan sets out the Council's approach to dealing with alleged breaches of unauthorised development and secondly its proactive role in the regular monitoring of minerals and waste sites within the County.
Monitoring is undertaken in order to:
Ensure compliance with conditions attached to planning permissions and legal agreements and to ensure unauthorised development is brought under proper control.
The Local Enforcement Plan sets out an agreed course of action to be followed by the Monitoring and Enforcement team, in conjunction with Legal Services staff, when dealing with alleged breaches of planning control.
