Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council are working together on a replacement Waste Local Plan to guide the development of new waste facilities within Nottinghamshire and Nottingham. The first part of the replacement Waste Local Plan, known as the Waste Core Strategy, was adopted in December 2013. This sets out the broad framework for developing future waste management facilities including broad locations and site criteria.
Following on from the Waste Core Strategy the Councils are now preparing more detailed policies to decide which sites should be allocated and the types of environmental controls that we should put in place. These will be included in second part of the replacement Waste Local Plan which will be known as the Sites and Policies document.
Together, we will need to decide on the most suitable locations for new waste management infrastructure across Nottinghamshire and Nottingham but, before making any important decisions we want to hear your views on how to choose the best sites.
We have therefore prepared a draft ‘Site Selection Methodology’ that will be used to help shortlist potential sites and want to hear your views about how potential sites should be chosen. To help with the future site selection process we are also consulting on an updated Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report which is available below.
This consultation will run between 15 May and 26 June 2015.
