Since moving to a new committee system in May 2012, the Council now has two scrutiny committees which focus on health issues. These are the Joint City/County Health Scrutiny Committee and the Health Scrutiny Committee (which covers the North of the County, including Newark).
The Policy Committee and each of the 'policy area' committees (e.g. Children and Young People's Committee, Finance and Property Committee) undertake scrutiny roles with regard to policy development and ensuring that new and existing Nottinghamshire County Council policies are implemented, operated and reviewed appropriately. The Policy Committee also undertakes scrutiny functions relating to other bodies (apart from Health) - ie around flooding and crime and disorder.
