Nottinghamshire County Council is consulting on the draft Young People's Homelessness Strategy and future commissioning proposals for young people's accommodation and support services. Now is your opportunity to get involved.

Housing related support services for young people aged 16 - 25 have historically been funded through Supporting People. In June 2011 the Council approved reductions to the Supporting People budget and agreed a set of commissioning proposals to ensure the delivery of the savings. The plan for young people's services was to:

  • Develop a Youth Homelessness Strategy
  • Transfer commissioning responsibility for these services from Adult Social Care Health and Public Protection (ASCH&PP) to Children's Families and Cultural Services (CFCS) from April 2012
  • Propose a new set of commissioning plans

The draft Youth Homelessness Strategy and set of commissioning proposals have been produced and we are now consulting on these proposals. The consultation will begin on 15 March 2012 and will end on 24 May 2012.

In order to respond to the consultation you will need to look at the strategy and the commissioning proposals. The main body of the strategy is 18 pages, and we feel it is easy to read and understand. The appendices form the rest of the document. If you have any problems interpreting the information please contact us. The commissioning proposals document shows the services we currently fund and our future proposal for each service.

The deadline for feeding back your comments is Thursday 24 May 2012. We will carefully consider all the comments made and the information will be given to elected members. A final set of commissioning proposals and strategy will be produced and will be presented to the Policy Committee.

The changes to services are due to take effect from October 2012.
