Councillor Sybil Fielding was elected as the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council in May 2015 for a 12 month term of office. As Chairman, Sybil is the civic head of the County, representing Nottinghamshire at local and national events.

Born and raised in North Nottinghamshire, Sybil was elected to Nottinghamshire County Council in May 2005 and represents the Worksop North Division.
Sybil, who was Chairman of Bassetlaw District Council in 2013/14, is also a Shireoaks Parish Councillor and has been a Bassetlaw District Councillor since May 2012, representing the Worksop North West Ward.
Her public service experience includes roles as Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the County Council’s Planning and Licensing Committee. She is a current Member of the Adult Social Care and Health and Culture Committees and a past Member of the Children and Young People’s Committee.
An enthusiastic advocate for young people, Sybil has supported a number of voluntary organisations for many years and has been a long serving school governor.
Sybil represents the County Council on a number of local organisations, including the Chesterfield Canal Partnership and the Nottinghamshire Buildings Preservation Trust. She is also a trustee of the Mansfield Fire Museum, an interest developed after serving on the Fire Authority for eight years.
Chairman’s Charity 2015/16: The Royal British Legion
The Chairman’s Charity for this year is The Royal British Legion. Sybil is a Member of The Royal British Legion’s Worksop branch and she has family ties to the armed forces.
The Royal British Legion in Nottinghamshire helps to support members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reservists, veterans and their families all year round.
The Legion administers and supports the delivery of welfare services and the membership and fundraising activities of the Legion’s branches and clubs throughout the county.
