Father: Frederick Wolfe, born in 1867 at Sheffield and working as a bricklayer's labourer though previously he had been a labourer with the sanitation department..Mother: Mary Ann Wolfe, born1861 at Sneinton, Nottingham, working as a lace clipper. She died in 1907 and in July 1912 Frederick married Emma L. Wolfe, nee Elliott and they moved to 113 Sneinton Road, Sneinton, Nottingham. Brothers: Frederick, born 1892 and working as a gas works labourer, Horace, born in 1892 and working as a joiner and cabinet maker and Samuel, born in 1888. Sister: Hilda, born in 1889 and working as a lace dresser. All the children were born in Nottingham. The family lived at 2 Camden Street, Sneinton, Nottingham,.

1st Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Pte. Wolfe volunteered for service and following training he was sent to France to reinforce 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, arriving on 27/12/1914. He fought with the battalion in the Battle of Neuve Chapelle and was killed in action on 12/03/1915.. His body was never recovered, but his name was commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial (Panels 26 & 27)
