Charles enlisted in Nottingham , giving his residence as Old Basford, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters. He was killed in action on 2nd November 1916 and is buried in Roclincourt Valley Cemetery (grave ref IV. F. 6.).
Nottingham Post obituary (abridged) 2 March 1917: 'Jackson, missing since November 2nd [1916]now officially killed in action, Private Charles Jackson, husband of Annie Jackson, Wilton Terrace, Basford. Wife and children.'
