He was the son of Henry (died 1889) and Jane Syson and the brother of Francis, Eliza and Fred Syson. The family lived at 52 Wicklow Street Old Basford Nottingham in 1881, 34 Wicklow Street in 1891 and 2a King's Yard Wicklow Street in 1901. He was the husband of Florence (née Hyams) Syson and the father of Florence and Cornelia Syson. In 1911 they lived at 40 Wicklow Street.
He was a lace bleacher in 1911.
