10th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
His birth was registered J/A/S/1890 so he may have been 27 when killed. Some sources, including CWGC and UKSWD, cite Hopkin but he was registered Hopkins at birth and appears thus on the 1901 Census. On the 1911 Census the family name was Hopkin and the BMD Marriage and Birth Indexes has Hopkin for his marriage and the birth of his son. The Soldiers' Effects Register cites 'Hopkins or Hopkin'.
