John W Brown & Harriet Bloomer married Sheffield 1873. The birth locations of their children show that they were constantly on the move around the south Yorkshire, Derbyshire area, John W being a general labourer. They had had five children by 1881, Kate born 1869 , Sarah Ann born 1873, Nellie in 1875, John W in 1979 and George H born in 1880. They arrived in Worksop by 1881 and took residency of 53 Marecroft Worksop. Whilst here they had two more children, James in 1883 and Ernest in 1886. By 1887 they moved on, this time to Sheffield where they had their two last children, Lillian in 1891 and Alexander in 1896 and by 1901 were living at 7 Brough Street, Nether Hallam, Sheffield. Further records are not to hand but Ernest Brown is recorded as enlisting in Sheffield.

SDGW - Born Worksop, Notts, enlisted Sheffield, died of wounds France Flanders. Awarded British and Victory Medal and 1914 star, qualifying date being 8/9/1914.
