Reginald Angus Forster was born in Eccleston,, Cheshire in 1895. His parents were William Angus and Mary Forster, née Leatherland. who were living at Belgrave Lodge, Eccleston, a residence they occupied for many years and where William worked as a forester. Reginald had two elder siblings, William Lionel born 1892 and Ethel May born 1893 also born at Eccleston. In 1911 Reginald was 15 years old and working as a foresters assistant but on 13 May 1912, his father died at the age of 53. He left his will to his wife amounting to £1708.Some time after this event, Reginald went to Nottinghamshire where he probably worked on the Welbeck estate.

8th Bn The Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire Regiment)
He enlisted from Welbeck, Notts, in the Sherwood Foresters, number 12582 and went to the Balkans in 1915, earning the 1915 Star. At some stage he transferred to the North Staffs Regiment, the Regiment he was under when he was killed in action on the Western front. His body was never identified and so he is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium
His effects were left to his mother in his will, totalling £370 11s 8d
