He was the son of Walter and Annie Henshaw of 53 Lott Street Stapleford Nottinghamshire. He was the husband of Ada (née Foster) Henshaw and in 1911 Elijah and Ada lived with her family at 60 Chapel Street Ilkeston. He was the father of Alan Henshaw.
He was miner (road man below ground).
