Brothers: Walter Harvey, born in 1899 in Nottingham, Arthur Redvers, born in May 1901 and Francis Hector, born in 1903 in Nottingham. Sisters:Edith Alice, born in 1905 in Nottingham and Florence Maud, born in 1909 in Nottingham. The family lived at 7 Baden Terrace, Meadows, Nottingham before moving to 11 Newcastle Street, Meadows, Nottingham.

Acting Bombardier
110th Bde Royal Field Artillery
William Henry Sheward volunteered for service, enlisting at Neward. Following training he was drafted to France on 25/09/1915. 'A' Battery was situated at Becourt, near Albert when Acting Bombardier Sheward was seriously wounded on 29/07/1916 and died the same day. He was buried at Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt. His brother Walter served in Salonika.
He died in No 5 Australian Field Ambulance
