He was the adopted son of Robert and Alice Wheeldon. In 1911 they lived at 17 Knob Yard Narrow Marsh Nottingham.
He was a newsagent.

Pte. Bernard Norman, enlisted at Nottingham and served with 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment (Chatsworth Rifles), attached 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, He died of wounds on 24th July 1916. and is buried in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe.
In memoriam published on 23rd July 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “NORMAN. – In loving memory of our dear brother Bernard, died of wounds received in action July 23rd, 1916.
