He was the son of William Gallard and Ruth Annie Field and the brother of William Gallard and Charles Samuel Field. They lived at 81 Birrell Road Sherwood Rise Nottingham.
He was a telephone fitter.

1/6th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private John Henry Losco Field, initially served with the service number 2597 in the South Notts Hussars, he later transferred and served with the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, he was killed in action during a raid on German trenches on 13th August 1917. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
