Frederick Herbert Weston was born in 1884 in Sheffield and was the son of Herbert Thomas and Fanny Weston née Waddington. His father was born in 1859 in Sheffield and his mother Fanny Eliza Waddington was born in 1861 in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, they were married in 1881 in Leicester and went on to have the following 3 children , Frederick Herbert b1884, Fanny b1886 and Kate b1888, all the children were born in Sheffield. Frederick Herbert married his wife Emily Tombs in 1913 in Nottingham and they lived at 34 Westgate Street St Ann's Well Road Nottingham.

Gunner Frederick Herbert Weston, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 174th Brigade Royal Field Artillery, he died of wounds at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, on 6th November 1918 and is buried in Nottingham General Cemetery.
Obituaries published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 6th November 1919 :- “WESTON. – In proud and loving memory of my dear husband, Gunner F. H. Weston, R.F.A., died of wounds November 6th, 1918. Sadly missed. “WESTON. – In loving memory of my dear son, Gunner F. H. Weston, R.H.A., who died in Sheffield Hospital November 6th, 1918.
