He was the son of Edward and Mary Ann Bunting and the brother of Sarah Bunting. In 1911 they lived at 17 Mason Avenue Nottingham, but moved to 4 Ludlow Terrace, Dame Agnes Street, Nottingham (Evening Post July 21, 1915)
He was a pit pony driver below ground.
