He was the son of Frederick and Caroline Sansom and the brother of Harry, Ann, Frederick, Connie, Frank and Gertrude Sansom. In 1901 they lived at 5 Clarence Terrace Walker Street Sneinton and in 1911 they lived on Lamartine Street St Ann's (both Nottingham).

9th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Albert Sansom enlisted at Nottingham and was probably a reservist. He was posted to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters, entering theatre (France) on 27 December 1914. At some point he was posted to the 9th Battalion, possibly after being wounded. On 26 September 1916 the battalion attacked as part of the Battle of Thiepval and successfully took all of its objectives. Albert was one of over a hundred men killed. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme. John Morse
