He was a brick maker's labourer.

13th Bn King's Royal Rifle Corps
Rifleman Alfred Buxton, served with the 13th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Brigade, he was killed in action on 12th July 1916. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
In memorial published 12th July 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BUXTON. – In loving memory of Rifleman Alfred Buxton, Oldham-street, Carlton-road, killed in action July 12th, 1916.
