He married his wife Alice Elizabeth Cooper in 1914 , the marriage was recorded in the Shardlow, Derbyshire Registration District. They lived at 39 Lichfield Road, Nottingham Following his death his widow remarried and took the name of Alice Elizabeth Wallis (formerly Bosworth) and lived at of 64 Bennett Street, Long Eaton, Derbyshire.
He was a regular soldier serving in 1911 with 2nd Bn Leicestershire Regiment.

Pte John Percival Bosworth enlisted in Nottingham on 30th November 1903 , he was 19 years and 1 month old, he stated his occupation was that of a labourer. He served with the 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment which was stationed at Fermoy, Ireland at the outbreak of the Great War. They embarked for England and spent the August in the Cambridge area, but on September 8th they embarked at Southampton on the S.S. 'Braemar Castle' for France. They arrived at St. Nazaire on September 10, 1914, and reached the Aisle on August 20th. Once trench warfare set in the battalion was moved north and relieved French troops on the night of October 12th/13th near Cassel. Pte, Bosworth was wounded during this time and was sent down the line to Le Havre for evacuation to England. Unfortunately, though he was loaded onto the hospital ship 'Oxfordshire' he died of his wounds before she sailed. As a result he was buried at Set. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre (Div. 14. C. 3.)
