Royal Irish Fusiliers
Pte. Thomas White, “C” Company, 6th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, was killed in action on 15th August 1915 whilst serving at Sulva Bay in Gallipoli. Reported missing, his death was confirmed on 19th September 1916 when his photograph appeared in the local press he is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. .
Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged) 19 September 1916: 'Private T White (Royal Irish), 7 Grove Cottages, Thorneywood, was missing August 1915, now reported killed.'
