Nottingham Southern Cemetery, Wilford Hill: 'In loving memory of Charles Brierley Butler who died Aug 6th 1924, aged 52 years. Also of Jack, only son of the above, killed in action Aug 16th 1917, aged 25 years'. Additional names: Gertrude Butler, wife of Charles, died 8 January 1931, and Ethel Gutteridge (?sister), died 11 March 1964. Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged), 31 August 1917: ‘Butler. Killed in action, Private Jack Butler, Middlesex, husband of Maud (née Karrup) only son of Mr and Mrs Charles Butler, 118 Goldsmith Street, age 25.’
