He was born on 16th February 1899 in Sneinton and was the son of George and Alice Maud Bee née Watkiss and In 1911 they lived at 1 Byron Street Nottingham. His father George was born in 1865 in Nottingham, his mother Alice Maud Watkiss was born in 1865 in Wolverton Staffordshire, they were married on 11th October 1885 in Nottingham , they went on to have a total of 12 children, sadly however 7 were to die in infancy or childhood prior to 1911. His father George died on 21st February 1909 in Nottingham , he was 43 yrs of age. In the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Byron Street, Nottingham and are shown as Alice Maud 45 yrs a widow and charwoman, she is living with two of her children , George 12 yrs and John Thomas 5 yrs. He was great uncle to Jacqueline Davies.

Private George Bee enlisted in Nottingham, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment. He was killed in action whilst serving near Ypres Belgium. and is buried in Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery Ieper West Vlaanderen Belgium Grave Reference: VI E 16
In memoriam published on 8th April 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BEE. – In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Pte. George Bee, Sherwood Foresters, killed in action April 7th, 1917. A loving son, a brother kind, he was to us in heart and mind; he always strove to do his best. God grant him eternal rest. – From his sorrowing mother, [Alice Mary] sisters, brother, mother-in-law, son, and brother-in-law Edwin (in France). “BEE. – In loving memory of George Bee, killed April 7th, 1917.
