Private Herbert Bailey, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 23rd (1st Sportsman's) Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 11th June 1917. He is buried in Orchard Dump Cemetery, Arleux-en-Gohelle.
In memoriam published 11th June 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BAILEY. – In ever loving remembrance of our dear brother Herbert, who was killed June 11th, 1917. Peace, perfect peace. – From Edie and Harry. “BAILEY. – In fond remembrance of our dear nephew, Herbert, killed in action June 11th, 1917.
