Gunner William Thomas Staton, “C” Battery, 251st Brigade Royal Field Artillery, died in captivity following “inflammation of the lungs” on 18th October 1918. He had been taken prisoner on 27th May 1918.He was buried in Niederzwehren Cemetery, Kassel (grave ref. VI. G. 17).
Nottingham Evening Post notice (abridged), 1 February 1919: 'Staton. Gunner W Staton RFA, died of pneumonia October 18th 1918 while a prisoner of war in Germany. Sister, Lizzie.'
