He was known as 'Clarence'. He was the son of Arthur and Martha Jepson of 405 Alfreton Road Nottingham. His older brother, Herbert Arthur, died 9 November 1918 aged 33 and was buried in Nottingham General Cemetery. His father died in 1927 and mother in 1934.
Attended High Pavement School. Member of University College Nottingham OTC.

Second Lieutenant Albert Clarence Leonard Jepson, 3rd attached 2nd Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, was killed in action on 12th October 1916. He is buried in Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval. (grave ref XXlX.G.1).

Also Sec Lieut A Clarence L Jepson, brother of the above, killed in action October 12th 1916, buried at Cheudicourt, France, in his 21st year. Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his lfie for his friends. In loving memory of Arthur Jepson, the beloved husband of Martha Jepson entered the homeland on July 20th 1927. Also of Martha … who passed away Dec (-) 1934 aged 76 years. Article published 19th October 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “SECOND-LIEUT. A. C. L. JEPSON. “Mr. A. Jepson, superintendent school attendance officer for the Notts. Education Committee, has received official intimation of the death in action on October 12th of his son, Second-Lieut. A. C. L.
