Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser; 20/01/1917: Pte James Bowman, son of Mr & Mrs D Bowman of William Wood Farm, Shirebrook, has been killed on 28/11/1917 aged 26 years old. Brother, Alec is serving with the Army: A letter from his commanding officer was printed in the 27/12/1917 edition. Inscription on family headstone, St Peter and St Paul Churchyard (Church Warsop): 'Also James Bowman, 6th son of the above [David Bowman] killed in Palestine, Nov 28th 1917, aged 26 years.'
