He was the son of Thomas and Louisa Nix of Eastwood Nottinghamshire and the husband of Dorothy Nix of 160 Hucknall Road Nottingham,
He was apprenticed to a local plumber before starting his own business and subsequently following the same trade in Canada.

Private William Henry Nix, enlisted in late 1915 and served with 8th Field Company, Canadian Engineers, he died on 19th September 1916 from wounds in hospital. He is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery.
