Children and Young People’s Services
Salary: Band I - £78,301 - £87,038

This is a new post, established to support a realignment of services within the Children and Young People’s Services Department. The successful candidate will form part of a dynamic and committed departmental leadership team.
The post has been created to lead a new division which has a focus on integrating our services across a range of key areas. It encompasses the youth service (including Teenage Pregnancy and Work Based Learning), the youth offending service and the initiatives and opportunities service (including provision for ethnic minority and Traveller children, the arts support service, the environmental education service, PE and sport, school swimming, the corporate parenting consultant and the personal development for learners team).
In order to fulfil this exciting and challenging role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- A strong commitment to making a difference to the life chances of children and young people
- High level leadership skills, particularly in the areas of strategy and policy
- An understanding of all the core aspects of the Every Child Matters agenda
- Appropriate experience at a senior level in either Local Government or with one of our partner organisations
- The ability to manage change positively at a senior level, to balance competing priorities and to build and sustain positive relationships, inspiring and enabling others to achieve
The post holder will have direct line management for the youth support service, the youth offending service and the initiatives and opportunities service.
