Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Adults Board Meeting – 11 October 2018

Brief summary

  • updates from the Learning and Development, Safeguarding Adults Review and Quality Assurance Sub-Groups were provided by their respective chairs. The chair provided feedback on the sub group chairs meeting which was held to ensure that there was joined up working across the sub groups, where this was possible
  • Annie Greer, Nottinghamshire County Council, provided an assurance update on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • David Pearson, Corporate Director for Adult Social Care at Nottinghamshire County Council gave an update on the Government’s Social Care Green Paper and the local Sustainability and Transformation Plan
  • the revised multi-agency procedures and guidance for raising a concern and referring were presented to the board and, following some minor changes, were signed off for launch on 1 November 2018
  • Elaine Moss, Director of Quality and Governance, Newark and Sherwood Clinical Commissioning Group, presented a report to the board providing assurance about the approach of GPs to safeguarding adults. This satisfied the board that risks are mitigated appropriately
  • Andy Gowan, Detective Superintendent at Nottinghamshire Police, provided the board with an update of in relation to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
  • the board endorsed the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Steering Group zero tolerance motion
  • Allan Breeton, Independent Chair of NSAB, updated the board that he had completed the national chairs' audit and would provide feedback on results in January. He also sought and received assurance that partners have contingency plans in place regarding the potential of a Brexit deal or no deal.
