Common Assessment Framework (CAF)
The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) is a standard assessment that can be used by all services working with children and young people. It is particularly suitable for use in integrated early intervention work, where we work with families as soon as we realise that a child or young person is experiencing difficulties. The CAF helps workers to identify a child or young person’s strengths, needs and goals. It can be shared between services and used as a starting point for planning co-ordinated multi-agency action.
The CAF is a national initiative and is a key part of integrated locality working. You can see national Government advice about CAF by visiting the every child matters website.
In Nottinghamshire, we are introducing the CAF gradually and linking its introduction to the roll-out of Integrated Locality Working, including Joint Access Teams (JATs). We have started using CAF in some localities and aim to have all localities using the CAF by the end of 2009.
The documents on this page provide essential information about CAF in Nottinghamshire. We will be developing these pages and adding more information very soon.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of CAF developments in Nottinghamshire, please contact the CAF Project Manager, Maggie Pape.
